10 Weird Trains With Prototypes Ever Built

Welcome to Humor Nation. Railways have always had a vital role in Indian economy. Trains are the cheapest means run by the government and used by almost all commoners. New technologies added to the sector has come up with jaw-dropping innovations.

Here we present an index of some crazy innovative trains introduced in the modern era!

10. HOVERCRAFT TRAINS

These trains hover on the ground giving an amazing speed. Not as the force included in the normal trains, these use the magnetic energy to move.

10 Weird Trains With Prototypes Ever Built

though this came up to be a flop plan and the prototype was left to rot. Sooner the models are to be moved to Pueblo Railway Museum.

9. STEAMPUNK MONORAIL

This was one of the first monorails. built as novelty ride in 1876. The idea was of Josiah V. Meigs. He patented his technology and worked on it for a few years.

Bad luck strikes! and the train was scrapped due to suspected arson and vandalism possibly due to other train competitors.

8. RAILPLANE TRAINS

This was made to cut the price involved in the building if railway tracks, purchasing land and other such expenses. The train was expected to fly and a prototype was launched in July 1930.

Sadly, the model got no investment and the train was scrapped in 1956.

7. ALWEG MONORAIL

Dr. Axel Lennart  Wenner-Gren proposed the idea of high-speed trains to transport city to city. His prototype did prove his trains could handle highly bank curves.

Alweg’s idea couldn’t convince the investors and the train was scrapped.

6. HOUSTON’S SKYWAY MONORAIL

Houston’s idea was to invent a skyway train to overcome the issue of traffic. Though the train got good attention but the passengers preferred buses.

After a few months, the monorail was dismantled and shipped to be exhibited in Dallas.

5. GYRO MONORAIL

This rail was invented to cut down the expenses of laying down two tracks. It had the capability of balancing on a single track via gyroscope.

The inventor couldn’t guarantee a gyroscope that won’t break down. This lead the investors to withdraw their funds. also, much money was used in world war leading to a lack of money for the project.

4. PROPELLOR TRAINS

These trains were to be invented by Germans. With the same concept as that of rail plane trains. The only difference that stood was these were to move via propellor technology. Germans named it Schienenzeppelin.

The major concern was it would cause life harm by its speed to a passenger standing nearby. The Hitler’s rule sooner got the train melted and its metal was supplied to wars.

3. JET TRAINS

Mechanical power is transferred to the engine to help these trains move. The mechanical power is either gas, diesel, steam or electricity.

But the project had much better plans proposed which later got abandoned and the train couldn’t come up successfully.

2. AUTONOMOUS RAIL RAPID TRANSIT

This was a project by Google about the driverless cars. The ideas are now taken up by China solely. There are no railway tracks and the train follows a marked path resulting in flexible movement and better speed.

The prototype is expected to have drivers but will soon be automated.

1. TEB TRAINS

The TEB is an innovation from the sides of China in the year 2010. This was expected to move over the vehicles on the road. Though there were many drawbacks expected of the model yet its prototype was built and unveiled in 2016.

sooner it was revealed that the project was undertaken by an insolvent Chinese company. Later, the officials got into investigation and arrested 33 people. sooner the government ordered to abandon the project.
