This movie is a story centered around a poor Rajasthani boy who begins to dream big after getting inspired by India’s former president A.P.J Abdul Kalam. It is directed by Nila Madhab Panda. It is first film to be produced by a development organization-Smile Foundation.  This film was shown at different parts of world. This movie was a critical success.

2. Dor

Director Nagesh Kukunoor left no stones unturned to make this movie a mark in Bollywood. ‘Dor’ features Gul Panag, Ayesha Takia and Shreyas Talpade in lead roles. This movie is a remake of Malayalam movie “Perumazhakkalam”. This movie tells a story of two women from different backgrounds coming together and finding redemption from each other’s struggles and also makes a strong feminist statement. This film is shot at the beautiful location of Rajasthan which makes this movie more aesthetic.

3. Dasvidaniya

This movie is a very emotional film. It is about a man Amar Kaul (Vinay Pathak), who begins to take action on his bucket list after knowing from a doctor that he only has 3 months left of his life. This movie gives us very powerful lessons to pursue our dreams and chase our desires before we are dead.

4. Matrubhoomi

Director Manish Jha’s Matrubhoomi raises and tackles issues like female festicide and female infanticide that changes gender equations and creates a future dystopia where entire village is full of males. This film awoke the viewers and was awarded FIPRESCI award at Venice film festival.

5. Paanch

Although ‘Panch’ isn’t released yet, but it is called as Anurag Kashyap’s best film ever. This film is centred on 1976-1977 Joshi -Abhyankar serial murders in Pune and the film’s language, violence and depiction of drug abuse meant that the censor board was never comfortable with its release. The film remained unreleased as there is no support from the producer.

This is a hard hitting debut film of filmmaker Shonali Bose. This movie is based on a novel written by her. Lead role is played by Konkona Sen Sharma, the film traces her character’s journey from a sheltered life in America to finding the truth about her parents after she discovers that she is adopted and confronts the truth about her real parents in the riots that followed Indira Gandhi’s assassination. This film won a National Award for Best Feature Film in English in 2005.

7. Madholal Keep Walking

So if you want to have a light movie and calm movie, this should be your first choice. This movie is about a guy Madholal who is a security guy in an office whose life changes after sustaining an injury in a terrorist attack. The prospectus of this film is to know your fears and overcome them.

8. Superman of Malegaon
