4. Donnie Darko
Just to be clear this movie would also make it onto our top movies, you need to watch ten times to understand that. I’ve never heard more discussion about what actually happened in a movie than Donnie Darko, like ever. Whenever I get close to fully understanding what the pages of fan theories, I read on the internet are trying to tell me about Donnie’s whole story, it just seems kind of like slip away. I have to watch it all over again I could honestly be here all day explain to you guys about life and death, and the wormholes and time travel, and inter dimensional beings called Frank the rabbit.
But you guys will have to find all that stuff by yourself. All I know is that every time people watch this movie it seemed to get something new, for some people they see the same movie, but from like you know a new angle, but for others they want to keep collecting new pieces of the puzzle that they didn’t see before and try to understand what is actually going on with Donnie Darko. But that’s also the exact reason why people love it. I’ve never heard anyone say they love this movie because they totally understand every single aspect of it. They usually scratch their heads, they say they don’t understand this bit or that bit.
This movie tends to rip people apart in opinion the way a black hole should actually rip people apart. In this movie if you get what I mean people love to discuss, the whole plot holes in this or defend them. But the truth is if you put all that to one side and just take the movie as it is, many people want to go back and watch it again. And once they have the knowledge that everything in the movie was guided by Matthew McConaughey in a black hole.
Once you learn that the inter dimensional being that kept reaching out to them on their journey was literally him poking holes in space and time, it adds a whole new dimension to things. Certainly most of the people would want to revisit the movie once they learn the main character is guiding himself and all the other characters from the minute that first book falls off the bookshelf.
