3. THERE WOULD BE NO ORIGINALS WITHOUT KLAUS
The reason why Julie Plec didn’t kill Klaus in TVD Season 3 is to evolve the story of the Originals. She believed there was a lot to tell about the Mikaelson Family, explore the stories of Kol, Rebekah, and Finn. She confessed that killing a character with plenty of stories and potential is a big mistake. Even Morgan has told Plec that he doesn’t want to die as there’s so much he can do with the character. TVD spin-off ‘The Originals’ aired in 2013 which proved to be extremely successful.
Joseph Morgan revealed in an interview that it was the scene of Mikaelson Ball in Season 3 which inspired Plec to launch the spin-off. Joseph Morgan was hugely impressed by the fan made art and video trailers for the TVD spin-off focusing on the Mikaelson Family. They did it long before Julie Plec and the network formally announced the spin-off project. Morgan along with Daniel Gillies, Claire Holt were the stars who retweeted and shared the fan content on their social medias. It was the fans who reportedly gave the spin-off its title, ‘The Originals’. Joseph Morgan was stoked about the spin-off project and actively campaigned for it.
2. THE INSPIRATION FOR KLAUS
Klaus Mikaelson is one of the most terrifying and menacing characters in the TVD Universe. The character has a strange mystique about him. The very first moment Joseph Morgan showed up on the screen, there was a sort of lethal charm in his portrayal. Joseph Morgan revealed in an interview that he took inspiration from characters such as Hannibal Lecter, Lestat (Interview with the Vampire), and Theodore Bagwell (Prison Break). He studied these characters and borrowed certain aspects from them in his performance as Klaus. Joseph revealed in an interview that he wanted Klaus to be unpredictable, the kind of person that you won’t have no idea what he’ll do the next moment. And this is what made him so special, he’d do something to win your heart and would crush it the next minute.
1. HIS STORY IS FINISHED
Ever Since Originals ended and the spin-off titled ‘Legacies’ was announced, fans has been speculating about the possible appearance of Klaus on Legacies. Fans have been hoping for a short cameo from the Original Vampire for so long. But Joseph Morgan has shut down the door on ever playing the character again. Joseph Morgan revealed that he wanted to have a definite story for Klaus which concluded in a satisfactory manner after he sacrificed himself for Hope. It was the greatest redemption for the character. He feels there’s no need for him to appear as a ghost, flashback, or any sort of cameo because it would only unravel what he has done.
