5. MOST APPEARANCES (STEFAN SALVATORE)
Well this should not be a surprise to anyone. The titular characters, the main protagonists, the Salvatores have the most number of appearances in the Vampire Diaries Universe. However, Stefan Salvatore edges his brother Damon with his one extra appearance in the Originals crossover episode of Season 3. Stefan Salvatore has appeared in a total number of 172 episodes whereas Damon appearing in 171 episodes and not making any appearance on the Originals or Legacies.

4. OLDEST VAMPIRE ALIVE (REBEKAH MIKAELSON)
The Vampire Diaries featured plenty of supernatural species, but it mainly focused on the Vampires. Most of the main characters either were vampires or became one at some point. The history of Vampires in TVD Universe started with the Mikaelson Family who became famously known as the ‘Originals’. Due to a magical spell, they were granted immortality and special powers, they also acquired the ability to transform others into a vampire.
With the deaths of Mikael, Klaus, and Elijah, Rebekah remains the oldest Original Vampire in the existence. In the Originals finale it was hinted that she would take the cure and become a normal human, but in Legacies we learn that she hasn’t taken the cure yet, and is currently a vampire. Whereas the oldest normal vampire in the TVD Universe is Aurora De Martel who made her return on the Legacies vowing revenge from Hope for the sins of her family.
3. MOST NUMBER OF ROLES PLAYED BY AN ACTOR (NINA DOBREV)
Portraying a character is a difficult job especially when that character has already been presented in much detail in a book. An adaptation of a book into a TV show creates an immense pressure on the show creators to deliver on all the expectations that the viewers arrive with when watch the adaptation. Undoubtedly, almost all the TVD actors have done a tremendous job of bringing the book characters to life, giving a justice to their personalities and signature traits.
But out of all actors, Nina Dobrev has probably the most challenging job. First she portrayed the characters of Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce completely opposite to their personalities written in the books. The show runners purposely chose to turn Elena into a sympathetic and caring person instead of the mean girl persona that Elena has in the books. Secondly, Nina Dobrev played four different characters, the Petrova Doppelgangers named Elena, Katherine, Amara, and Tatia. Even though all the Petrovas looked alike, but each one of them had a distinct and unique personality.
