5. DEAN WINCHESTER & JOHN WINCHESTER
Dean Winchester shared a complicated relationship with his father John Winchester. Dean was a soldier to John Winchester who raised him into the hunter’s life and taught him to obey his command which Dean did never questioning his authority. In many aspects, their relationship mirrored the God-Michael relationship where Michael was the loyal soldier who followed his dad’s commands without any question. However, Chuck used Michael as a pawn which is pretty evident as when Michael eliminated his brother Lucifer and betrayed the Winchesters only to get his father’s approval. But Chuck punished Michael for his betrayal by eliminating him. Even in the past, Chuck decided to disappear and didn’t inform anything to his kids especially the most loyal one, Michael. Whereas John cared about Dean and in Season 14, he apologized to Dean for taking away his childhood and putting him through everything. John mentioned how he is proud of the man that Dean has become and wants him to have a normal life.

The relationship between Dean and Castiel is probably the second most popular after Sam & Dean. Everything has their own interpretation of the dynamic between Dean & Castiel. In Season 4 premiere, Castiel appeared in front of Dean and revealed that he was the one who raised Dean from the perdition. Castiel was tasked with the responsibility of protecting Dean and right until the end he succeeded in obeying that heavenly duty of his. As the show went on, Castiel developed a close bond with Dean as he got to look through the true self of Dean and he understood him. Dean also considered Castiel to be a member of his family.
In Season 12, Dean gifted a mixtape containing Led Zeppelin hit songs to Castiel, he has even made Cas watch a Western film. In Season 12 finale, Cas fell victim to Lucifer, Dean expressed his disappointed and prayed to God to bring Castiel back. Although, there are many people who ship these two characters. In the Season 15 Episode ‘Despair’, Castiel confessed his feelings to Dean, expressing how Dean has changed him, he uttered the words ‘I love you’ to Dean. Jensen Ackles who portrayed the character of Dean Winchester revealed that Dean is unsure of Castiel’s emotional expression of love as he is a celestial being so he do not know if Castiel can experience emotions in human fashion.
