The name Jack is the medieval diminutive of the name John. The world was used as a slang for man. In the earlier drafts for the Pilot episode of Supernatural, the character of John Winchester was originally named as Jack. However, the creators changed the name when they found a real Jack Winchester living in Kansas to avoid legal issues.

Jack is close to Castiel whom he considers as his father figure rather than Lucifer. He also considers the Winchesters close to him as they protected him and guided him. Later, he developed a father-son like bond with Dean Winchester. Many fans have also noted Jack’s similarities with Castiel. There’s a scene where Jack holds the FBI badge upside down similar to what Cas did once. Jack Kline is also the non-primordial being who possesses abilities and powers close to the God. Similar to Darkness in Season 11, he also forced an angel telekinetically to kill themselves with an Angel Blade.
