3. THE AGE LOGIC
It is a known fact that Vampires grow stronger with age. The older a vampire is, the more stronger it will. But this logic has been negated several times. In Season 5, we saw Damon Salvatore was able to overpower Nadia Petrova who is twice the age of Damon. In Season 3 episode ‘Dangerous Liaisons’, Damon Salvatore was able to snap the neck of an Original Vampire Kol with pretty ease. Also, Caroline Forbes who has been vampire only for some time was able to overpower Damon Salvatore in a fight. Then you have Elena who became a vampire much late after Caroline was able to defeat her in a fight. And the biggest goof of all time is Matt Donovan, Jeremy Gilbert, and Elena Gilbert being able to kill two Original Vampires. In one episode Anna (Daughter of Pearl) overpowers Damon easily whereas in others they are shown to have the same strength.
2. HISTORICAL MISTAKES
In Season 3 episode ‘Ordinary People’, we see a flashback involving Klaus to 1000 years ago in which his character says ‘We Were Just Having Fun’. But the word ‘fun’ is actually invented 500 years later during the times of Shakespeare. In Season 4, Stefan makes a reference to the novel ’50 Shades of Grey’ by calling the Klaus’ torture chamber as the ‘Red Room of Pain’. However, the book wasn’t released until the year 2011 whereas the show is set in 2010.
In another episode titled ‘Pictures of You’, we see the cast dancing to the Rihanna song ‘Stay’ which was not released until 2013 while the show is set in the year 2011. In the same episode, we see Silas make the reference to Cinderella, but it is unlikely that he would be aware about all the pop culture. The only possible explanation is that Silas is a psychic and he could easily learn all the knowledge by reading the minds of others.
1. INCOSISTENCIES
Throughout the show, we have witnessed several small bloopers and inconsistencies which are pretty hard to spot. Such as Jeremy Gilbert not recognizing the Gilbert while her father has been in the possession of the ring and wore it while he was alive. That doesn’t make any sense! In one episode, Katherine pretends to be Elena and wears her necklace which contains Vervain, but it didn’t burn her. She also says she is aware about the Originals and know everything, yet she believed that a dagger would work on Klaus.
In the episode ‘By the Light of the Moon’, we see that the ring on Elena’s finger changes location. At first it’s on her thumb and it can be seen on her index finger in the next second. The IDs in Virginia state are normally vertical, but in an episode where Vicki Donovan shows her ID to Sheriff Forbes, it is horizontal.
