Welcome back to Humor Nation. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the most popular sitcoms and also one of the longest running Indian shows of all time. TMKOC aired its first episode on 28 July 2008 and by 15 August 2020 the show has aired 2971 episodes which is a huge achievement. But over the course of years, TMKOC somewhat lost its flair, the elements and things that made the show famous are gone now. The show has now become a shell of what it used to be. A show which is slowly replacing TMKOC is Bhabiji Ghar Pe Hain! which is going really strong and has proved that it’s better than TMKOC in so many aspects.
So Take A Look At 5 Reasons Why Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain Is Better Than Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah
5. Theme and Acting
TMKOC often at times is unrealistic and over-the-top. The acting of many actors is also pretty poor and you could tell that’s totally embarrassing. The over sanskari theme has ruined the show. Earlier the show and the characters were relatable because they displayed all their aspects without worrying about morally right or wrong, for example, the time when Bapuji and Daya wanted a child marriage for Tappu. Emotions such as jealously, forbidden attraction wasn’t considered a taboo.
But now the characters are totally sanskari without any grey sides. Champak Lal has now become a reincarnation of Mahatma Gandhi who could transform the hearts of even the worst of people. This is too far fetched and makes them unrelatable to the real life. Remember the time when the Gokuldham Society parents shamed their kids for bunking college for one days! Seriously! Too much preachy and idealistic makes the show less interesting. Whereas BJGPH is far more realistic, the characters are very relatable, and it displays real life situations and doesn’t believe in being morally right all the time.
There was a time when TMKOC was genuinely funny. The jokes and gags actually made you crack up, but now it has become more of a drama show with lack of humor. Even if there’s any kind of humor, it’s the same predictable exchange between a few characters. How do the childish and stupid acts such as playing statue-statue would make anyone laugh? And in the name of comedy, TMKOC mostly has excessive sound effects and music paired with repeated lines of the characters.
3. Audience Base
TMKOC started off as comedy show targeting the adult audiences, but to appeal to a wider demographs, the show changed its content and programming. Now TMKOC has a universal appeal. This has made TMKOC become too much childish and somewhat stupid in its programming. Whereas BJGPH caters to the late teenage and adult audiences. This has made it a show for the grown-ups. This could also be seen in its content which includes lots of innuendos, hints, and slangs which works really well with the mature audience.
