Welcome back to Humor Nation. The successful spin-off of the Vampire Diaries and the first ever spin-off to air on the CW Network is the Originals. This show expanded the TVD Universe by introducing various new characters along with the characters primarily the Mikaelson Family who we have seen first on the parent series. The spin-off is focused on Klaus Mikaelson who is now a powerful Hybrid and he learns that he is the father of the unborn child present in the womb of the werewolf Hayley Marshall with whom Klaus had a one night stand in Season 4 of the Vampire Diaries. In the very season, TVD featured an episode titled ‘The Originals’ which served as the backdoor pilot to the new spin-off.
So Take A Look At 5 Reasons Why TVD Spin-off The Originals Was Launched
5. THERE WAS STORY TO BE TOLD
The Mikaelson Family was definitely the highlight of Season 3. There was so mystique and charisma around the Original Vampires. It was a time when Mikaelsons became more popular than the primary protagonists of the show. What we learned about the Originals was only the tip of the ocean. Therefore it was only natural that the fans wanted to learn more about these characters. The spin-off explores the history of the Mikaelson Family in depth, from their inception to their arrival in the New Orleans city where they settled and called it their home. Their subsequent exodus from New Orleans and the subsequent political and leadership change in the landscape of their city. The spin-off explored the werewolf and vampire species in much detail, introducing concepts, communities, and rituals that we didn’t know about.
4. THE FANS MADE THE SHOW HAPPEN
We can thank the CW Network and Julie Plec for making Originals a reality, but a major credit for the spin-off coming into fruition goes to none other than the fans. Ever since the arrival of the Mikaelsons on TVD, the fans were in awe. As TVD creators took the liberty of creating new characters and storylines which weren’t a part of the LJ Smith TVD novels. Characters such as Rebekah, Elijah weren’t in the books. They started writing fan-fiction, created cool edits featuring the Originals. Some fans even came up with the concept ideas for the spin-off in their videos which used the footage from TVD. Actors such as Claire Holt, Joseph Morgan who portrayed the Mikaelson siblings were impressed by the videos they came across, they shared and retweeted them on their social media handles.
