The passionate fans of the show have seen all the shows and they feel they know everything there is about the Originals. But there are certain things about the Originals that even the hardcore fans are not aware of.
So Take A Look At 5 Things About The Originals That The Fans Don’t Know!
5. BIRTH OF THE SPIN-OFFS
CW Network has create history with the spinoffs based on the popular DC comic characters. The shows are set in the Arrowverse which started airing in 2012 and spawned spin-offs such as Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and plenty of others. But the spin-off era couldn’t be possible if it weren’t for the success of the Originals. A TVD spin-off that became more popular than its predecessor. This gave CW the formula for creating successful spin-offs.
4. KLAUS WILL NEVER RETURN
The spin-off Legacies really has become one of the successful TV spin-offs. The show expanded the TVD Universe further, introducing new characters, supernatural creatures, and elements which weren’t a part of TVD and the Originals. While characters from TVD and Originals such as Matt Donovan, Jeremy Gilbert, Freya Mikaelson, Rebekah Mikaelson, Aurora de Martel have already made their presence felt on Legacies. Ever since the show started, the fans have been begging to see another glimpse of Klaus Mikaelson, even if it’s a flashback, a regular guest appearance, or an extremely brief cameo. Klaus is the father of Hope who sacrificed himself to end Hollow and save the life of his daughter Hope.
So Klaus is dead, but it’s not impossible to somehow bring him back on the show. However, the actor Joseph Morgan who played Klaus Mikaelson has time and time again made it abundantly clear that he would never return. He believes his character arc has been concluded perfectly in the Originals, it’s a beautiful story from the beginning to the ending. He further said that making an appearance whether as a flashback or a ghost would be wrong for him. It would also affect the legacy of the character. Morgan added that the series creator Julie Plec also agrees with him on this.
3. SUPERNATURAL SPIN-OFF NOT BEING ‘ORIGINALS’ ENOUGH
The Vampire Diaries expanded its universe through Originals and Legacies. The Vampire Diaries proved to be a successful franchise for the CW Network. Another popular and successful show on the CW Network is Supernatural. The show ran for 15 seasons and concluded in 2020. However, Supernatural failed at expanding its universe and becoming a franchise. The show attempted to launch a spin-off twice, but was denied by the Network. First Spin-off attempt was Supernatural: Bloodlines which focused on the clashing between the hunter and werewolf community in the city of Chicago.
When the Network refused to give a green light to the spin-off, the pilot episode was released as part of Season 10 of Supernatural. Supernatural writer Andrew Dabb said in an interview that the reason the spin-off failed was because of the timing. They came up with the show which was a lot similar to ‘The Originals’ which was airing on CW at the time. Originals revolved around the clashing cultures of vampires, werewolves, and witches of the New Orleans. Dabb said that they tried making a show entirely different from the Supernatural, they didn’t take any elements from it. But they ended up becoming too inspired from the Originals.
