- Their first relationship officially began in Season 4 Episode ‘My Brother’s Keeper’. Even though there was a chemistry and attraction since the beginning of the show. But Season 4 is when their relationship officially began. Even after the sirebond of Elena is broken, she expresses and confirms her love in Season 4 finale. Their first breakup happens in Season 5 Episode ‘Fifty Shades of Grayson’ when Damon tells Elena to stop coming with an excuse or explanation to justify his bad behavior. Their second relationship began in ‘Promised Land’, but it is cut short with the death of Damon in Season 5 finale. However, they are reunited in Season 6 after Damon ia back from the Other Side, but Elena has her memories forgotten. The third relationship begins in Season 6 episode ‘Prayer for the Dying’, but it is cut short when Elena is placed in a magical coma in Season 6 finale. Undoubtedly, Delena is the most popular TVD ship. This relationship is pretty epic and to this date it remains one of the best television relationships. But there are certain facts which makes this relationship somewhat weird.
- Damon Salvatore fell in love with Katherine Pierce who is not only the ancestor of Elena Gilbert, but also her lookalike. It cannot be ignored that he fell for Elena because she was exactly similar in appearance to Katherine.
