5. FELL’S CHURCH
As you are well aware, TVD is based on the novels of the same name. In the books, the name of the town is Fell’s Church, but the studio decided to change the name of the town in the TV Series. The reason is because there’s an actual town named Fall’s Church which would lead to a legal trouble. Well, Mystic Falls does has a ring to it so it turned out to be a good decision.

4. CONTINUITY ERROR
No show is perfect and especially when a show runs for a longer duration, it is bound to make mistakes. Vampire Diaries is no exception. There’s a continuity error when it comes to Mystic Falls. In the pilot we were told that the town was founded in 1792. Whereas in the episode ‘Family Ties’, it is stated that the town was founded in 1860. Fast forward to the episode ‘Today Will Be Different’, we learn from a package that was received by the Armory from Mystic Falls dated 1790. In the episode ‘We Have History Together’ when Caroline says that the town was officially founded in 1860, but Sybil revealed to her that the town was formed long time ago, the Founding Families only took the credit.
