Matt Donovan is a central character on the TVD. Introduced as the ex boyfriend of Elena Gilbert and the brother of Vicki Donovan. Despite his breakup, he cared for Elena and inspired Caroline to become a selfless person during their romantic relationship. After learning of the Supernatural existence, he decides to assist his friends in defeating them off. As the show progresses, he becomes a deputy in the Police Department and takes the position of Sheriff after the passing of Liz Forbes. He made his appearance in Season 3 episode of the Originals when Elijah and Finn arrive in Mystic Falls to rescue Freya, he aids them in their mission. Matt appeared in the Legacies where after coming across a supernatural crime scene, he seeks the help of Alaric and Hope.

Rebekah has been given the nickname of Barbie Klaus by Damon and it describes her personality perfectly. She is stubborn like Klaus. but always craved for a normal, human life. Through out the Vampire Diaries and Originals, she has been involved in numerous relationships which didn’t end well for her. She is hopelessly romantic, but her brother Klaus saw her love for someone else as a sign of betrayal. Rebekah returns to New Orleans in Originals after learning from Elijah about the child of Klaus. She joins her family and protects Hope from all sorts of dangers. She made her first appearance in Season 4 of the Legacies she tries reconnecting with her niece and apologizes for missing on her big days. Rebekah tries convincing Hope to switch back her humanity, but it’s futile and Hope leaves Rebekah stranded.

Stefan is the first main cast member of the Vampire Diaries who crossed over to the Originals. He appears in Season 3 episode ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ where first Klaus helps him with the hunter named Rayna Cruz. Freya uses her magic to make him invisible from the huntress. He then joins forces with Hayley and Marcel to rescue Elijah and Klaus.

The character of Hope Mikaelson has been played by two different actors. Summer played the Hope in Season 4 of Originals who gets possessed by Hollow’s spirit. She makes her appearance in the Legacies in the form of a hallucination. Danielle who took on the role of Hope in the fifth season becomes the lead heroine of the Legacies. In Season 4, Hope turns off her humanity to deal with her loss.

Dorian made his TVD debut in Season 8 as a recurring character who is a student of occult studies and works with Alaric. After the Salvatore School was established, he took the role of Librarian as well as taught at the school. Dorian married Emma and became the Principal of the Mystic Falls High School. He also appeared in the Season 5 episode of the Originals where he interacts with Hope.
