4. HOUSE OF WAX

The episode titled ‘Fallen Idols’ is full of amazing references especially related to Jared Padalecki. The famous media personality Paris Hilton makes a cameo appearance as herself. Interestingly, she appeared in a horror movie with Jared titled ‘House of Wax’. Dean makes a comment as how he has never seen ‘House of Wax’. In the episode Sam kills Paris who is actually a deity. This is similar to the movie where Paris Hilton died in a similar fashion.

3. RED HOOD

In Season 14 episode titled ‘Mint Condition’, while Dean is still struggling. Sam pulls him out and they both investigate the case of a malevolent spirit. The spirit is linked to a comic shop and the action figures are coming to life. When the brothers start investigating, Sam can be seen checking out a life size action figure of RED HOOD, a character from Batman Universe. This is a reference to Jensen Ackles who voiced Red Hood character in the animated film Batman: Under The Red Hood. Interestingly, Jensen would go on to play Batman in the recently released Batman: The Long Halloween animated movies.

2. LUCIFER VS LUCIFER

Season 11 episode titled ‘The Devil In The Details’ where Sam gets trapped in the cage with the devil Lucifer while he was trying to convince him to join forces to fight against the darkness. Dean and Castiel come to his rescue. There is a scene where Sam asks Lucifer what would he do once he is freed from the cage. Lucifer responds saying that he would move to LA and solve crimes. This was a reference to the FOX series Lucifer which was about to be released then. The show Lucifer featured Tom Ellis playing a whole new kind of Lucifer who teams up with a LA detective to solve crimes.

1. THE HOLLYWOOD

The Season 2 Episode titled ‘Hollywood Babylon’ is full of numerous references to the cast and the creators. The Winchester take the cover of production assistants in order to investigate a case.

  • There’s a scene where the Winchesters are on a tour, the tour guide mentions the set of Gilmore Girls, a show in which Jared worked before Supernatural. When the guide says that they might encounter any of the cast members of the show, Sam becomes extremely uncomfortable and leaves the tour.
  • Then the guide makes a reference to the Lois and Clark TV series which is subtle nod to Smallville where Jensen Ackles worked.
  • Then there’s a scene where Dean criticizes the script of the movie named Boogeyman saying how terrible it is. This was a jab at Eric Kripke who is the writer of the screenplay and developer of the movie’s story.
