Swan Song as the name suggests was meant to be the series finale as Eric Kripke originally visioned SPN to be only five seasons long. The scene where Lucifer beats up Dean to the extent that Dean’s face is virtually unrecognizable. Jensen Ackles reveals that he got pretty emotional while filming the scene, there were real tears rolling down his eyes which started dissolving the glue used to paste the artificial swollen eye. Due to the glue dissolving, it started burning his real eye, but he kept filming despite the agony.

At the DC-Con 2014, Jensen Ackles revealed that when his brother Josh Ackles watched the scene where Sam who’s possessed by Lucifer attacks Dean. Dean doesn’t fight back and lets Lucifer beat him up badly, his brother Josh was so enraged at the scene of seeing his little bro get worked up so bad. He walked out due to being extremely upset. This is the same scene where while hitting Dean, the dormant Sam sees the army man in the ash tray which allows his consciousness to take over the body again. He then conjures the cage and jumps in it while sacrificing himself. Adam who is possessed by Michael also jumps along with Lucifer/Sam.
