3. VAMPIRISM IS A CURSE
Emily Bennett, the ancestor of Bonnie, believed that Vampirism was an evil curse which was born out of the dark magic. She explained this curse will only cause suffering for the gentle souls. For example, a person like Stefan Salvatore who we have known to be kind and compassionate human before transforming into a vampire. We know very well that Vampirism enhances the core characteristics and nature of a person and therefore the kind humans will become more kind after transforming into a vampire.
But Esther’s spell turned the Originals into powerful and savage beings to protect themselves from the werewolves. The vampires are born out of the Originals and therefore their basic instinct is to be savage and to kill. Since the benevolent vampires found it hard to kill and feed, this caused them to switch off their humanity to free their guilt, and go on a kill spree then. These savage kind of vampires without their humanity became famously known as the Rippers.
2. WITCH HYBRIDS
There have been a type of witches who are born without any magical potential, but have the rare ability which allows them to siphon the magic from other sources. They are known as the siphoners and they can be transformed into the witch-vampire hybrids as they will retain their ability to practice magic due to being able to siphon magic from other sources even after becoming a vampire. Valerie, a cast out siphoner who became a member of the Heretics, died with Lily Salvatore’s blood in her system and transformed into the first witch-vampire hybrid.
The Witch-Vampire hybrids can use their siphon magic to even cure the werewolf venom if they are ever bitten. This makes them much powerful than the normal vampires, but they inferior compared to the Vampire-Werewolf hybrid. The only witch-werewolf hybrid known in the entire TVD Universe is Klaus Mikaelson, however Klaus never tapped into his witch potential unlike Kol before he was turned into an Original.
1. Qetsiyah
Qetsiyah is the one witch who set the major events in the motion, without her there would be no Vampire Diaries. She is the witch who created the first Immortality Spell which turned Silas into the first immortal being. She also created the cure for the immortality which was originally intended for Silas. Qetsiyah also created the Other Side which is a purgatory for the supernatural souls where they stay in a state of limbo after their death. She created it with the intention of being reunited with Silas on the Other Side.
Qetsiyah also created the spell for the Brotherhood of the Five. She communicated with the Witch of the Five from the other side and guided her in creating the Five. Her main motive behind creating the Five was to kill the immortal Silas and the vampire beings. Emily, Abby, Bonnie Bennett all come from the bloodline of Qetsiyah, this is one of the powerful bloodline of the witches along with the Mikaelson.
