4. THIRD TIME’S THE CHARM
Elena never wanted to be a vampire, but she eventually did become one in S3. But did you know that Damon Salvatore tried turning Elena on two different occasions. At first, In Season 1, when everyone was looking for the Emily’s Grimoires, Stefan and Elena managed to get a hold of the Grimoires. However, when Damon found out about their betrayal, he force-fed his blood to Elena and threatened that he would kill her if Stefan didn’t give him the Grimoire.
Second time, Klaus threatened that if she didn’t participate in the sacrifice then her loved ones will die. Elena willingly decided to be sacrifice, Damon fed her his vampire blood to ensure that she will return as a vampire after being sacrificed. But it also didn’t work. Finally, in S3 finale, she dies after being drowned due to an accident. But we learn that Dr. Meredith had fed her Damon’s blood to cure her cerebral hemorrhage. As Elena died with vampire blood in her system, she awakens in transition.
3. ELENA AND DAMON
Elena and Damon have been through a lot. Their relationship is perhaps the most popular ship on TVD. Damon has never broken a promise to Elena. But you would be surprised to know that Damon has done pretty horrible things to Elena. Damon has killed the biological parents of Elena, he killed John Gilbert, but he was resurrected due to the Gilbert ring. He killed Isobel and turned her into a vampire. Along with this, Damon had also killed Jeremy Gilbert after Elena rejected him. Luckily, Jeremy was wearing the Gilbert ring. Legacies has confirmed that Damon and Elena have multiple children – Jenna, Stefanie, Sarah Lillian, and a son named Grayson.
2. ELENA AND PETROVAS
Elena Gilbert is a Petrova doppelganger. She shares numerous similarities with other Petrova doppelgangers, Tatia and Katherine. Tati and Elena both were born in Mystic Falls, while Tatia was the first Petrova doppelganger, Elena was the last. Both of them were killed due to blood loss at the hands of a Mikaelson. Tatia died to Elijah and Elena at the hands of Klaus. Perhaps Elena shares the most similarities with Katherine Pierce. Both lost at least one family member due to Klaus Mikaelson, Klaus slaughtered entire family of Katherine and has killed Jenna, the aunt of Elena. Both of them have had relationships with Damon and Stefan. Katherine chose Stefan over Damon, Elena chose Damon over Stefan. They both were friends with a witch and have also killed Elijah Mikaelson.
1. BOOK VS TV SERIES
There are numerous differences in the book and TV version of Elena. In the books, it was Katherine which caused her accident over the Wickery bridge whereas it was Rebekah in the show. In books, she has a sister named Margaret and her aunt is named Judith Maxwell, but in the TV show, she has a brother named Jeremy and her aunt is named Jenna Sommers. The book Elena has blue eyes, golden colored hair and fair skin whereas the TV version has brown eyes, dark colored hair, and olive skinned tone.
