4. DADDY ISSUES

Okay, if it weren’t for Mikael then we wouldn’t have the Klaus that we know now. Mikael is mainly responsible for creating a monster in his image. Even though Klaus is Mikael’s step-son, but out of all Mikael’s children, Klaus is the one sharing the most similar traits. The abuse, humiliation, and suffering that Klaus received at the hands of Mikael turned him into a cold, vicious, ruthless monster who acts out due to his unconscious insecurities. Throughout TVD and Originals, we have seen him struggling with the ‘daddy issues’, using Mikael as an excuse for all his behaviors. By committing the atrocities, Klaus has tried validating himself, an unconscious desire to prove that he’s worthy. Mikael valued strength and despised weakness, and this conditioned Klaus.
3. THE GREAT EVIL

Before there was a tribrid or the Upgraded Original, Klaus was the most powerful being in the TVD Universe. The first Original Hybrid in the existence. One thing we learned pretty early about him is that he is hungry for power. He would go to any extent to achieve his goals. However, his power ambition only masks his fear of being left alone. For centuries, he sought a Petrova to lift up the curse. Then he shifted his focus to creating a Hybrid army. Then he decided to reclaim his city of New Orleans. His power ambition always remained intact until the birth of Hope. After the birth of Hope, all his priorities were changed. He no longer cared about the crown.
2. THE SARCASTIC HYBRID

Klaus has a clever sense of humor. He have seen him coming up with great comebacks, witty one liners, and sarcastic taunts. Klaus employs this strategy to easily get under the skin of the others. He even manages to infuriate Elijah who is known for his managing his calm and composure. Klaus is quite sarcastic towards the members of his family who find it hard to be around him as he tests their patience.
1. REDEMPTION

Another prevalent theme throughout the Originals is the redemption of Klaus Mikaelson. He himself never believed that he could be redeemed, he would use it to taunt Elijah whom he considered a fool for chasing his redemption. Even during his finale moments, he had doubts whether he’s truly redeemed or not, but Elijah assured that despite all his wrongdoings, his sacrifice and love for his family will result in his redemption. The Necromancer on Legacies confirmed that Klaus died with love in his heart. So we can definitely believe that Klaus Mikaelson is finally redeemed.
