Perhaps the most casting was of the titular character of Archie Andrews. The studio actually auditioned numerous natural redheads for the role of Archie before they finalized KJ Apa. As the character of Archie Andrews has red hair, KJ Apa has to color his hair.

The actress Katherine Langford almost ended up with the role of Betty Cooper. However, she got the lead role in 13 Reasons Why so she moved out and Lili Reinhart got the role. Madeline Petsch breathed a new life in the character of Cheryl Blossom, but did you know she was originally called for the role of Betty, but the casting crew were convinced that she is the perfect Cheryl. Chance Perdomo who is Ambrose in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was almost cast as Jughead. Whereas Cole Sprouse was called for the role of Archie, but he chose Jughead as he’s the narrator of the Riverdale.
