4. THE MIKAELSONS WERE WITCHES
All the Mikaelson siblings were born witches as they acquired the trait from their mother Esther. However, not all of them tapped into their witch potential. This was confirmed by Kol Mikaelson in the episode ‘Red Door’ where he told Davina that he was the only one of his siblings who tapped into his magical potential that he got from his mother. He was the one who practiced witchcraft before transforming into a vampire. Freya Mikaelson’s magical talent was groomed by Dahlia and she is one of the most powerful witches in the TVD Universe.
3. THEIR AGES
Well, according to the various pieces of information that we got throughout the series. Freya Mikaelson was born in 972 A.D. She’s supposed to sleep for 100 years and wake up for only 1 year under the Dahlia’s curse. She would entered her slumber cycle in 1003 and she didn’t age any bit while being under the curse. So when the curse was lifted in Season 2, she would be somewhere near 32. The Originals wre transformed in 1001. Finn is the older who was born in 974 which makes him at most 27 years old. He is three years older than Elijah, so he would be born somewhere during late 977 or early 978 AD, making him 24 years old.
Klaus was born in the year 980. As per the flashback in the TVD episode 4×05, which showed him around 10 years older in the year 990. So he would be 20-21 years old. In the flashback, it was revealed that he’s 3 years younger than Klaus so he would have taken birth in the year 983 AD, making him 18 years old. And finally, Rebekah who is a year younger than Kol so she would have been born in the year 984 AD, she’s 17 years old.

2. THEY CREATED THE VAMPIRE RACE
The witch Ayana warned Esther of the consequences of using the immortality spell. The birth of Originals led to the start of the plague which happened in 1002 after the Original Vampires realized they could turn normal humans into vampires by feeding them their blood and killing them. This resulted in a huge population of vampires which only increased in the coming centuries. However, their sired vampires proved to be inferior and weaker than the Originals. Their first sired vampires were Lucien who was turned by Klaus, Aurora turned by Rebekah, Tristan who was turned by Elijah, Sage who was turned by Finn, it was never revealed who was the first sired by Kol.

The Mikaelsons are known to be hot headed, having a quick temper, especially Klaus, Rebekah, Mikael, and Kol. Klaus’ angry nature comes from his werewolf side and his nurturing at the hands of Mikael. While Rebekah and Kol acquired the temper from their father. The Mikaelson brothers have a signature gesture of raising both their arms up to their sides, displaying their superiority and powers. This is famously known as the ‘The Mikaelson Arm Raise’. Another interesting fact about the Mikaelson family is that Rebekah once said ‘No one in my family is to be trusted’ which is evidently true.
