Welcome back to Humor Nation. Every Supernatural character is unique and special, every fan has a favorite and beloved SPN character whom they cherish more than the other characters. The best thing about the show is you would find all sorts of characters, ranging from the heroic ones to devilish and sinister ones. There are certain character traits associated with every SPN character that makes them stand out. For example, if you look at the character of Dean Winchester, he is a man of heart, valor, and courage. He is someone who’d never go down without a fight. Dean often places himself in danger in order to help his friends and loved ones. Whereas his brother Sam Winchester is a man of wits. He relies on his knowledge and intellect to find a solution to the unsolvable problem. Make no mistake, Sam is also a warrior, but he uses his brain over the brawn.
Crowley was a late addition to the Supernatural team, makin his debut in Season 5. But soon he would become an integral part of the show and was promoted to a main character. What made Crowley such a popular character? Well, his witty and iconic comebacks, hilarious nicknames, and impressive strategy to run the underworld. Crowley’s sarcastic personality and comic timing made him steal every scene that he was featured in. His main goal for the majority of the show was to acquire absolute power and to be in a total control. He would even form unexpected alliances for the sake of his self-interest. Crowley is the only known demon to have the red smoke which signifies that he’s much more powerful than an average demon.

After Crowley, his mother Rowena also became an important part of the show. She started off as a fierce antagonist who tried manipulating Crowley in order to have him attack the Winchesters, but failed. She would then assist Sam in helping to get the mark off Dean in exchange for her freedom. Rowena’s transformation from a selfish to a compassionate character made her a fan favorite character. In the end, she sacrificed herself to save the Winchesters in their fight against Chuck. Supernatural has featured plenty of powerful female characters such as Rowena, Charlie Bradbury, Jo Harvelle, who proved to the audiences that they are equally as important and resourceful as the Winchesters.
Another character who appeared for a brief time, but managed to remain memorable is Abaddon. She is the demon who is responsible for the elimination of the Men of Letters. Through time travel, she ended up arriving in the present time while looking for Henry Winchester. She becomes the reason for the demise of Henry who could never back in time. As a result, his son John Winchester grows up believing that his dad bailed out on him. It is only in Season 14 Episode Lebanon where the boys reveal the truth of Henry Winchester to John. After learning about the state of the underworld, Abaddon decides to stay and take over the domain. She started a civil war against Crowley, winning the trust of many demons. Whereas Crowley enlisted the help of Dean Winchester who took on the mark of Cain to yield the first blade in order to dispose off Abaddon for greater good.
Speaking of John Winchester, did you know that Bruce Campbell was the first choice for the role of John, but the role eventually went to JDM. Many fans don’t know, but there’s only a 12-year gap between Jensen and JDM, but it’s amazing how he convincingly pulled off the role of a father figure. Even though JDM’s tenure as John lasted only for a while, but the importance of this character for the story-telling couldn’t be stressed enough. It was John who set the major events of the show in motion. It was him who trained the boys as skilled hunters and it was also his disappearance which reunited the boys. Sam, who had gone off to Stanford, breaking away from the family business was forced to help his brother in finding the whereabouts of their father. John would sacrifice himself by making a deal with the yellow-eyed Azazel in order to save the life of Dean who went into a coma after the Season 1 finale accident.
While the character of Azazel appeared majorly in Season 1 & Season 2, but he is also one of the important characters who helped the plot move further. Azazel had made a deal with Mary Winchester which we learned in Season 4 where he resurrected John, but in exchange he fed his demonic blood to Sam. When Mary Winchester walked into Sam’s nursery while Azazel was feeding the infant, she ended up falling a victim of Azazel. A vengeful John would learn about Supernatural existence and exacted his revenge.
