Welcome back to Humor Nation. Season 1 of the Originals begins with a monologue of Elijah Mikaelson who tells us about the bond of family which could be a blessing or a curse. We are forever bound by it. Elijah tells us how his family has survived for centuries, they remained together despite everything. Before the series premiered, Joseph Morgan who played Klaus informed the fans that the spin-off will be much more adult, mature, and gothic compared to the Vampire Diaries.

After being hexed, Cami with the help of Josh tries saving father Kieran by giving him electric shocks, Klaus comes to her aid. Klaus turns Kieran into a vampire and the hex wound disappeared, making everyone believe that Kieran is cured, but the mark soon returns. It further turns him into a mindless killer who tries attacking Cami, but Klaus intervenes and kills Kieran. He says that Kieran didn’t deserve the fate that he got. As Father Kieran was the head of the human faction, it’s now up to Cami to take his place. But a mysterious woman named Francesca shows up and replaces him as the human faction representation. She forms an alliance with Elijah and tries winning the trust of Klaus. But later we learn that she is a werewolf and a part of the Guerrera werewolf bloodline which was believed to be extinct.
Season 1 also featured a Vampire Diaries character, it was Tyler Lockwood who got the information about Klaus’ unborn child. He abducted the pregnant and wanted to confirm a theory. He believed that Klaus will use the unborn child to sire hybrids. Klaus would confront Tyler and they fought, Klaus easily defeating him, but sparing him for the sake of Caroline. This season also explored the Mikaelsons history in the form of flashbacks. Elijah reveals to Hayley about their family’s history, how they became the Original Vampires.
Originally the CW Network gave a green light to only 13 episodes for the spin-off, but it then picked up the show for three additional episodes. After seeing the performance, reception, and ratings, the Network picked up the spin-off for a full season which consisted of 22 episodes.
