The heart of the Vampire Diaries is the Mystic Falls Gang who have fought numerous kinds of supernatural threats including the Mikaelsons that threatened their lives and the peace of their beloved town. Mystic Falls is the term given to the collective group which includes the Salvatore brothers, Elena Gilbert, Caroline Forbes, Bonnie Bennett, Jeremy Gilbert, Alaric Saltzman, Matt Donovan, Tyler Lockwood, and numerous others. People who have come together to deal with the supernatural problems such as witches, werewolves, and vampires. They have been quite successful in their trials. Who can forget that it was Mystic Falls gang that managed to dispose off two Original Vampires; Finn and Kol Mikaelson. A feat that many powerful witches and vampires were unable to do over a course of thousand years. Numerous villains on the show have underestimated the gang and ended up paying.
Which Villain From The TVD Universe Will You End Up Marrying?
While the Mikaelsons were portrayed as the villains at first, but their popularity and connect with the fans resulted in their own series which became an immense hit. The Originals is set in the city of New Orleans. This show is dark and mature compared to TVD. While in Originals, nobody is truly a good guy unlike the TVD. Rarely, you will see pure moralistic characters, everyone has their hands dirty. While there are numerous factions, one of the fan favorite is the Mikaelson family. Even though the family does what it believes is right for them, their actions have significant impact on the others, and often results in innocent casualties.
In the TVD, when the Mikaelsons crossed path with the Mystic Falls gang, they were outmaneuvered and bested. But a lot could be contributed to the sloppy writing. As it wasn’t the show of the Mikaelsons, we didn’t get to see their full potential and powers. It was only in the Originals, we got to experience the full extent of their abilities.
The motto of the Mikaelson family is ‘Always and Forever’, It is the love of the family which is worth every battle and struggle. Throughout the Originals, majority of the storylines revolves around their family, fighting and protecting each other. Whereas in TVD, family wasn’t a major theme, themes such as romantic love and friendship was the main focus of the show. The Vampire Diaries explored plenty of relationships, resulted in deep friendships such as Damon-Bonnie, Alaric-Damon, whereas in Originals, we didn’t get to see that.
