Welcome to Humor Nation. UFC made its return to Mexico and it was almost a success. The card was exciting, but the main event between the featherweights Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez ended in a bizarre fashion. Nobody imagined that UFC Fight Night 159 would end in the worst way possible. Everyone was waiting for the most anticipated match between the rank 7th Yair and rank 8th Jeremy Stephens. The crowd came to see the returning hero Yair and they clearly made their presence felt by booing the outsider Yair out of the building. The promo was lit, the walk-outs were amazing, but unfortunately, we didn’t get the action we were expecting. The main event ended up becoming one of the worst main event finishes in MMA history.
The fight started with Yair finding his range with a front kick early as the fight started and then he reached out to Stephens with his hand and on his way out he swiped the eye of Jeremy. This resulted in the referee Herb Dean calling for time, allowing Stephens to recover. But Jeremy was unable to open his eye which probably may be because of a scratched cornea. Herb Dean called the doctors inside the Octagon to take a look at the eye, but Stephens was unable to open his swelling eye. He was given full 5 minutes to recover from the hurt, but he couldn’t which resulted in Herb calling the fight off.
The ending was extremely anti-climatic, but it soon turned ugly when the Mexican fans int the arena started throwing bottles and debris in the Octagon. The security had to escort Jeremy Stephens safely to the locker room.
So Let’s Take A Look At How Fans On Twitter Reacted Hilariously To The UFC Fight Night 159 Main Event Disaster!
