Welcome back to Humor Nation. Even though the Vampire Diaries was focused more on romance and relationships, there is no denying that the theme of friendship also played a significant role on the show. Of course, when you live in a world that is full of vampires and werewolves, it’s impossible to survive if you don’t have the right support system to deal with such threats and to console you when your vampire boyfriend breaks up with you. The Vampire Diaries is a place where every other character who first appeared as an enemy turned out to be an unexpected friend. Through out the eight seasons, we witnessed numerous friendships on the show. Some of these became very popular with the fans, some failed to win the love of the audience.
One of the best friendships we witnessed on the show was between Stefan-Lexi. Lexi, an old friend of Stefan who arrived in Mystic Falls to celebrate Stefan’s birthday. Her interaction with Stefan showed us a carefree version of Stefan. She knew Stefan really well and it was her who helped Stefan control his ripper phase several times. So when Lexi’s character died, the fans were so devastated and wished to see more of her. This is why the creators had to bring her again on the show. Ultimately, after his death, Stefan was reunited with Lexi in the afterlife.
Bonnie and Damon were paired up romantically in the books, but the creators never thought about starting anything between the two. They started off with a hate, but with their experiences together, it transformed into a deep and caring friendship. Damon cared about Bonnie so much that when Kai linked Elena’s life with Bonnie, he chose to let Elena stay into the coma instead of bringing her back to life by letting Bonnie die.
