One of the new characters in Season 2 was Vincent Griffith, originally introduced as Finn Mikaelson who was possessing his body and assisting Esther in her goals. Originally serving as the regent of the New Covens of New Orleans, but after losing her wife Eva, she decided to leave the coven and city, but ended up becoming a victim of Esther.

Under the influence of Finn, he performed numerous villainous acts such as disrupting the peace and balance among the different factions in New Orleans, trying killing the Mikaelsons especially Hope. Klaus would have killed him for good, but Freya protected her brother and placed his essence in her pendent. She freed Vincent from the captivity. After regaining his consciousness and understanding everything that has happened, he expressed regret and guilt for the actions as he was partially responsible for it. He would then assisted the Mikaelsons in stopping Eva Sinclair who tried regaining the control of her body in which Rebekah’s essence was living.
In third season, he would be responsible for turning Lucien into the Upgraded Original when the Ancestors forced him to help Lucien. He would then work with the Mikaelson family to not just stop Lucien, but take down the Ancestors too. In the fourth season, he would be forced to establish the link to the Ancestors again in a desperate move when Hollow proved to be too powerful. He would play a major role in defeating the Hollow.
Vincent shared a close relationship with Cami as it was Cami who helped him in moving past the guilt for the actions of Finn. She worked with Vincent in putting a stop to the various supernatural murders happening in the New Orleans. He would also develop a close relationship with Freya Mikaelson. In the final season, they became extremely close friends. Freya asked Vincent to be father of her child with Keelin, he denied the request at first because of the loss that he had experienced in the past. He was almost about to leave New Orleans, but in last moment after experiencing the sacrifice of Klaus Mikaelson, he agreed to the request.
