Some call it a breath of fresh air while containing the essence of the Supernatural at the same time. We recently learned that Tom Welling has been cast into the role of Samuel Campbell, father of Mary Winchester who is a hunter and is missing. Samuel Campbell is the one who taught and trained Mary in hunting life. While Mitch Pileggi portrayed Samuel Campbell in Supernatural, appearing first in the time travel episode where he meets his demise as a result of possession by Azazel. However, Crowley brought him back to take his help in locating the whereabouts of Purgatory with the promise of bringing back Mary.

The actor will make his first appearance in episode seven of the Winchesters. Jensen Ackles is the executive producer of the spin-off who also reprises his iconic role of Dean Winchester, playing the narrator of the series. Jensen Ackles and Tom Welling share an interesting connection. Both have worked together on Smallville where Tom played the titular role of Clark Kent/Superman. Jensen was pretty close to getting the leading role, but eventually, it went to Tom. Jensen would appear in Smallville playing the role of Jason Teague during S4. Unfortunately, he had to leave the show to act in Supernatural as Dean Winchester.
