Welcome back to Humor Nation. The Southside Serpents are one of the most dangerous gangs on the Riverdale. As they reside on the south side of the Riverdale and hence the name ‘Southside’ Serpents. The group is lead by FP Jones who is the father of Jughead Jones and Jellybean. To become a member of the Southside Serpent, a person must go through a rigorous initiation ceremony. There are some stages that one must pass through in order to obtain the membership. The first stage involves the person taking care of the Serpent’s dog named ‘The Beast’ AKA Hot Dog. After that one must learn and memorize the Serpent laws. These laws are very crucial as the Serpents live by these laws.

Then the next stage involves retrieving a knife kept in the Serpent’s rattlesnake cage. And the final and the most challenging stage is named as the ‘Gauntlet’ which involves a physical display of one’s strength and loyalty. A person is jumped by the various gang members and he must endure the punishment in the form of punches to various body areas by the members and must stand tall. FP Jones is the original leader of the group, but in the Chapter: 35, he steps down from the throne and makes Jughead the new king of the gang. The members who are affiliated to the group must bear the symbol of the group tattooed on their body, usually it is tattooed on the arm.
