The teen drama which has been adapted from the Archie Comics for most of the times focuses on some sort of mystery that the residents are trying to solve. Whether it’s a drug scandal or fighting a serial killer, the Riverdale residents take up the job on themselves. Throughout the five seasons, the show has featured couple of musical episodes. The Episode 16 of the Season 3 titled ‘Big Fun’ is the second musical episode in the series.
This episode centers around ‘Heathers: The Musical’ which s a popular rock musical based on the movie of the same name. The musical covers a variety of social issues in a dark comic fashion such as school violence, bullying, and forces the viewers to start a conversation. The episode starts with Kevin Keller who is trying to convince the Principal and the Mayor about the importance of Heathers and wants it to be performed for the school play. Cheryl learns that Toni has been tasked with the choreography job and argues that she would make a better choreographer. Kevin has made Evelyn from the Farm as the co-director of the musical as Farm is supporting the play. This agitates Betty who is already skeptical of the Farm’s shady activities. Veronica is upset after learning the fact that her parents are set to divorce each other.
Betty who has been investigating the Farm is shocked when she learns that Fangs and Kevin has also taken part in initiation ritual ceremony of the Farm. She clicks some photographs to expose the cult of the Farm, takes them to the principal Weatherbee who turns out to be a follower of the Farm. Somewhere else, Jughead learns that her mother who recently arrived in Riverdale with some secret motive has been using their trailer to manufacture the drug Fizzle Rock.
Cheryl and Toni try to repair their relationship. Reggie who finds out that Veronica only turned to him to comfort herself as her parents are divorcing decides to end his relationship with Veronica. In the concluding moments of the show, Jughead and Betty set the trailer on fire to put an end to the Fizzle Rock lab. The episode ends with the cast performing a song together.
