But the fans expected a happy ending for him, something better than what he got. At first, we thought that he finally earned his well deserved happy ending with Caroline, but the writers shocked us. Their marriage didn’t last long as Stefan sacrificed himself soon to save Mystic Falls from Katherine. Stefan gave up his life for Damon.
Elena Gilbert received the best ending on TVD. She was trapped in a coma, but was woken up with the help of Bonnie. She was reunited with her love Damon, they married and ended up having a daughter together. Not only that, Elena completed her medicine study and became a doctor. She lived a happy peaceful life with Damon. After her death, she was reunited with her family.
