2. SUPERNATURAL CALLBACKS
The trailer which is almost 4 minutes has managed to make several references and callbacks to Supernatural. Like the Original, this prequel also starts with John and Mary bumping into each other, Mary is looking for her ‘missing father’. Then becomes the duo’s quest to locate their missing fathers. John has returned from the war, he is trying to put all the pieces together of his father’s life which takes him to the ‘Men of Letters’. Whereas Mary Campbell, coming from a hunter’s family, she always hated the business. Mary had quit the Hunter’s life, but was pushed back into it after Samuel Campbell goes missing. But unlike Supernatural where Sam and Dean who are pretty skilled hunters in the pilot episode, but in Winchesters, John knows nothing about hunting and Mary cannot deal with the Supernatural threats at her own.
1. NEW CHARACTERS
John and Mary are going to need plenty of help while navigating their way through the ‘Supernatural’ in order to discover the truth. Many of us are expecting to see some of the familiar characters from Supernatural such as Bobby, Rufus, Ellen. Characters who hunted with John & Mary, and would later assist the boys. However, the trailer introduced us to a few new characters who weren’t present in the Supernatural. Bianca Kajlich stars as Millie Winchester, the mother of John and wife of Henry Winchester. Demetria McKinney plays the character of Ada Monroe who is a bookstore owner and is passionate about the mystical occult. Nida Khurshid plays the character of Latika Desai who is a young and intelligent hunter, capable of finding her way through any problem. Jojo Fleites is cast as Carlos Cervantez who serves as the comical relief, offering humor in tense situations while also being capable of dealing with any sort of Supernatural threat.
What do you guys think about the trailer? Do you think they have cast the right actors for the role? Do you think the spin-off can deliver on the enormous expectations of the fans? Also, what do you feel about the spin-off retconning everything that Supernatural established? Do you feel they have a right explanation for the inconsistencies and it’s too early to form an opinion? Supernatural has a tragic luck when it comes to spin-offs. Let us really hope this one proves to be a game changer.
