Welcome back to Humor Nation. The relationship between the Original Vampire Klaus Vampire and the Upgraded Original Marcel has been nothing short of complicated. When Klaus saw Marcel being whipped by an oppressor, Marcel threw an apple at him, seeing the defiance of Marcel, Klaus intervened. He freed Marcel from the Slavery and adopted Marcel as his son. Klaus gave the name ‘Marcellus’ to the boy and took him under his wing. Marcel Gerard started living with the Mikaelson family who groomed him.

As Marcel grew up, he developed a liking for Rebekah, Klaus warned him to stay away from her. Marcel wanted to become a vampire and asked Klaus several times to sire him. But Klaus denied him the vampirism because he believed that becoming a vampire would rob Marcel of all the good that Klaus saw in him, it would take away his humanity. However, Klaus was forced to turn Marcel after Marcel was seriously injured and was about to die. He forced Klaus to either turn him into a vampire or just let him die.
When Klaus arrived in New Orleans to discover the plotting done against him, he crosses paths with Marcel Gerard whom he believed to be dead. It became quite clear to Klaus that Marcel is now running the city of New Orleans, he doesn’t shy away from expressing his force and control. In Originals Season 1, we learn that Marcel and Rebekah betrayed Klaus by calling his step-father Mikael into the city who has been hunting Klaus for centuries. They did it so that Klaus could no longer become an obstacle between their love. But little did they know, Klaus gave them his blessings and was happy with their relationship finally. However, their plan would set a chain of events which backfired against them.
When Mikael arrived, he gave Elijah an offer to join him, but he refused. Klaus, Rebekah, and Elijah would be forced to flee due to their father. Mikael however would spare Marcel who would go on to become the new ruler of the New Orleans. Klaus and others presumed that Marcel died and didn’t come back looking for him. It was Sophie Deveraux who planned a conspiracy against Marcel by inviting the Mikaelsons in town. However, the plan of the witches didn’t work because despite of all the differences, Klaus sees Marcel as his son.
