Nicki passed away at the age of 47 and is survived by her 2 children. She regularly shared updates about her health on her Instagram. Her final Instagram post came in March in which the actress can be seen singing as she started another course of treatment.
Nicki has been part of films such as Perfect Stranger, Jeepers Creepers 2, and worked in numerous TV shows such as ‘X-Files’, ‘Twilight Zone’, ‘Law & Order’, ‘CSI: Miami’, and a lot more including Supernatural. Nicki wasn’t just an actress, she was also a musician who also played piano and performed at beauty pageants when she was a child. Nicki’s first album titled ‘Red Velvet Room’ was released in 2015 and it consisted of five songs.
In Season 1, we were introduced to an unnamed demon who became known as ‘Meg Masters’, by the name of the host it was possessing. Meg worked as the loyal servant of the archangel Lucifer and followed the orders of the yellow-eyed demon Azazel. It’s no surprise that Meg developed an antagonistic relationship with Sam and Dean. After Lucifer was retrapped in the cage, Meg became an enemy of Crowley as she refused to bow down to the demon who played a role in Lucifer’s downfall. Interestingly, Meg developed an opportunistic alliance with the Winchesters who were battling against the Leviathans, Meg offered to protect and take care of Castiel. In Season 8, the demon Meg sacrificed herself to buy time for the boys who could escape with the Angel Tablet.
Nicki Aycox played the role of demon Meg in Season 1. The actress was willing to reprise the role of Meg, but the writers decided to give the demon a new vessel. Did you know the actress played the role of Syl (twelve X5s) on the show, Dark Angel. Interestingly, her character Syl was the sister to Jensen’s character Ben on the show. The two actors worked on the same show, but they didn’t appear together in the episode.
Nicki’s impact on Supernatural as Meg Masters will remain unparalleled. At the time when Supernatural was still trying to find its feet, exploring different possibilities and characters, her portrayal as demon Meg offered a terrifying antagonist to the Winchesters. Even though it was Miner who would portray Meg for the most part, but the foundation for the character was set by Nicki.
When the SPN family learned about the demise of Nicki Aycox, everyone was truly devastated and expressed their condolences.
Gutted to hear the great #NickiAycox, our first #MegMasters, passed away. Too young. She was a delight & delivered lines like honey & venom. I marvel at how she made a simple word like ‘lackluster’ legendary. #RIP #SPN #SPNFamily @JensenAckles @jarpad pic.twitter.com/2xBK9rxs31
