Of course not, nobody other than Jensen Ackles could be Dean Winchester, but did you know that Jensen almost played the role of Sam Winchester. A major reason behind the success of the Supernatural is its impeccable casting. But the casting process wasn’t smooth at all, Team Kripke had to stir away from the plan due to plenty of unexpected situations and uncertainties. They had their idea of who would be the perfect actor for a character, but sometimes they couldn’t get that actor for the role.
Nonetheless, they adapted and went with the next best choice and in the end everything turned out right. Did you know that Bruce Campbell was Kripke’s first choice for the role of John Winchester, but when they couldn’t get Bruce, JDM was cast for the role. Sometimes you look at an actor’s performance and you’d feel this character was created only for him, no other actor could have played the role. 5. MISHA COLLINS (AUDITIONED FOR THE ROLE OF A DEMON & GOT CASTIEL’S ROLE)
Misha Collins got an audition for the role of a demon on the Supernatural. When his agent told me about the demon audition, he watched an episode of SPN and prepared himself for the role of a demon. When he auditioned, he gave a spiteful, nasty, and sarcastic. It was after the audition that Kripke told him that they are actually looking for an angel, they would be soon introducing the angels. But to keep their appearance a secret, they sent out the requirement for a demon role. However, the adjustments suggested by Eric, Misha was all ready to be Castiel.
4. JENSEN ACKLES (AUDITIONED FOR THE ROLE OF SAM WINCHESTER & GOT DEAN’S ROLE)
This one every fan is well aware of. Kripke and the team were convinced that Jensen Ackles is the right choice for the role of Sam Winchester. The actor even auditioned by reading lines for the character of Sam. But he personally felt more drawn to the character of Dean. He admitted the same to the producers and creators, he convinced them that he should be playing Dean, and thus he got the part.
