2. LAUREN COHAN ( AUDITIONED FOR RUBY & GOT BELA TALBOT’S ROLE)
After the studio demanded the SPN creators to create female leads. They first created the character of the demon Ruby and then a second character named Bela Talbot was created. Bela was supposed to be a regular and wouldn’t be a love interest of the boys. The writers also crafted the character of Bela entirely different from Ruby, both characters having different motivations and goals. Lauren Cohan auditioned for the part of the demon Ruby, but after the audition, she got a call and was offered the role of Bela without having to audition for it. While after her departure, Lauren Cohan would find her career’s biggest success by playing Maggie Greene in ‘The Walking Dead’. Lauren Cohan once revealed that she was in talks to make an appearance on SPN. It was something small, but at the same time, major storylines were going on TWD which prevented the actress from appearing on SPN. The actress also expressed the missed opportunity of appearing on SPN along with Jeffrey Dean Morgan. This could have resulted in both actors sharing screens across three different projects (TWD, BvS, and SPN).
1. KATIE CASSIDY (AUDITIONED FOR BELA TALBOT & GOT RUBY’S ROLE)
The creator of Ruby was created by the writers to present the idea that not all demons are evil, some of them can be extremely useful. However, the writers had planned from the starting that Ruby would somehow affect the relationship of Sam and Dean. Eventually, she did create a rift between the brothers in Season 4. Kripke and team was careful not to overdo with Bela and Ruby by introducing them frequently. Katie Cassidy auditioned for the part of the hunter Bela Talbot, but she was offered the role of Ruby. Both Lauren and Ruby trained in the martial arts so they both could do their fight and action scenes without needing a stunt double.
