But the co-creator Julie Plec convinced him to check the original novels. It was then he resonated with the content and decided to adapt it into a series.

Due to the popularity of the series, DC comics decided to launch a comic book series based on the show ‘TVD’ which was released in 2013. The books follow non-canon storylines surround the characters from the show. The book series concluded in 2014 with Chapter 39.
