Welcome back to Humor Nation. The Originals aced the Vampire Diaries in some many departments such as the storylines being mature, the serious tone and atmosphere, factions and group politics. One of the major criticism of the Originals is that the show doesn’t feature strong independent female characters such as Vampire Diaries. While TVD placed an extra focus on the character development of female characters such as Katherine, Caroline, Elena, and Bonnie in the series whereas Originals never gave the spotlight to a female character.
However, the Originals features plenty of amazing female characters who played a significant role in the plot. Hayley has perhaps the best character development. On TVD, we didn’t get to see or learn more about Hayley. In the spin-off, we see her growth. From learning that she is now a mother, coming to accepting the child, and eventually fighting and overcoming all odds for her child shows how strong Hayley became. In Season 1 finale, she becomes a hybrid due to the Hope’s blood in her system. Season 2 saw her transformation as a Hybrid, her leading the Crescent Wolves, and defying Klaus for her baby girl.
Another character who doesn’t get enough credit is Davina Claire. The Harvest Girl who played a major role for the first half of Season 1. Davina was seen nothing, but as a potential weapon by everyone. She carves her own path and grooms her magic potential on her own. There’s no doubt that Davina is an extremely intelligent and talented witch. She managed to use the unsiring spell by studying Esther’s notes and broke the sireline of Klaus, freeing Marcel and all other vampires who were sired to Klaus. Speaking of powerful witches, Freya Mikaelson is definitely among the conversation.
Freya Mikaelson is the latest addition to the family. The first born Mikaelson who while linked to Dahlia was one of the most powerful witches in the TVD Universe. However, after the demise of Dahlia, Freya’s powers experienced a sharp decline. She could no longer cast certain spells on her own and would require to channel an Original Vampire. But her knowledge of the witchcraft and years of experience still made her a very useful ally. If it wasn’t for Freya, the Mikaelsons couldn’t have defeated Lucien or the Hollow.
