6. THE NAMES
Did you know Supernatural was originally supposed to be called ‘Unnatural’. In the first draft of the show, this was the written name for the show. However, when the filming and production started to began, the writers felt it sounded odd and changed it to Supernatural. When it comes to the names of the two characters, Eric Kripke selected the names ‘Sai’ and ‘Dean’ inspired from the Jack Kerouac’s popular road-trip novel named ‘On the Road’. However, he later changed ‘Sai’ to ‘Sam’ because it felt more appropriate.
The last name of the brothers was originally going to be ‘Harrison’, a homage to the legendary actor Harrison Ford. However, there was a man named Sam Harrison living in Kansas and due to legal reasons, they changed it to Winchesters. The character of Bobby Singer is named after the producer of the show, Robert Singer.

5. DEAN WINCHESTER
The character of Dean Winchester originally supposed to have plenty of tattoos, but the show began with a low budget so they dropped the idea. The actor Jensen Ackles who plays Dean Winchester is a man of many talents. He is a terrific singer and has also directed numerous Supernatural episodes. Jensen Ackles was asked by the show creators to audition for the role of Sam Winchester, but he found the character of Dean much more interesting after he read the script. When Jensen landed the role of Dean, he was already a series regular on SMALLVILLE which also aired on WB NETWORK. His role on Smallville was cut short due to Supernatural.
