5. WRITING OFF NORA & MARY
The relationship between Mary Louise and Nora Hildegard is one of the best romantic pairings in the TVD. They have been with each other for decades making them one of the longest romantic pairs. Both of them were also targeted for being Siphoners. but they overcame every odd with ease. After getting engaged to each other, it seemed like they could have that life together, but they were soon captured by the Armory. In the episode ‘Days of Future Past’, Nora gets marked by Rayna’s Phoenix Sword and been weakened extremely because she hasn’t fed in years. And Mary Louise was poisoned with Rayna’s blood which has no cure. Nora who cannot live without Mary decide to join her in destroying the Phoenix Stone which claims both their lives. They sacrificed themselves to destroy the Phoenix Stone. As heroic as it sounds, these two deserved a better fate.
4. STEFAN’S SACRIFICE
While a big portion of the fans wanted Stefan to end up with Elena Gilbert, but the fate prevented them from being together. Stefan and Caroline slowly developed romantic feelings for each other. While many fans found it unappealing, but their romantic relationship progression was natural and didn’t feel forced. After going back and forth, fighting and separating, they ultimately got married. Looked like Stefan could be happy without Elena, but Katherine returned with double trouble. Damon was ready to sacrifice, but Stefan chose to return back his brother’s life and he died heroically in taking down Katherine. While all that is perfect, but it is unfair for the character of Caroline who lost her husband within a day of their wedding. Caroline first lost her mother and now she found happiness in the form of Stefan which was also taken away from her.
