It is unknown when did Death came into the existence and who created him. He was there when Chuck AKA God created the Leviathans who were later sent to purgatory. Death is one of the four horsemen and only in the cases of major events, he walks the earth. But Lucifer after breaking free of the captivity of the cage summoned cage and bound him using a ritual to assist him in the apocalypse. But Death enlisted the help of the Winchesters to whom he handed over his ring without any conflict which enabled Sam to lock Lucifer again. Death has helped Winchesters on more than one occasion such as when he was summoned to help with the Castiel who absorbed the souls or when Dean asked Death to bring back the soul of Sam.

5. DEATH CANNOT BE DEFEATED
While the Winchesters managed to defeat the Horsemen of the apocalypse somehow, but Death is an exception. The four horsemen are a representation of the forces which cause or result into an apocalypse. The four horsemen are Famine, War, Death, and Pestilence. Each horseman is manifested into a human form using a ring. The way to defeat a horseman is to take off their ring. When the Winchesters took off the rings from War and Famine, they were rendered helpless. Whereas Castiel removed the ring from Pestilence. But when it comes to death, he is not interested in Lucifer or the apocalypse. Since Lucifer freed him from the confinement, he is bound to Lucifer. When Dean tracked Death, he handed over his ring to Dean to put Lucifer back into the cage. Thus death was never defeated in the apocalypse. After Dean enlists the help of Death to help him with the Mark, death tells him that he cannot harm the person who has the mark of Cain. But he can teleport him to a different planet, but he instructs Dean to eliminate Sam. But death instead attacks Death with his Scythe thus removing him from the existence.
4. WHY DEATH DIED?
Julian Richings is everyone’s favorite version of the death. After the demise of this ‘death’, Billie who was a reaper became the new boss of the reapers, the new death. But why did Supernatural kill death? At the 2016 and 2017 conventions, the actor hinted that Death is alive and might make a return at some point. However it never happened. Julian Richings’ death met its demise in Season 10. In 2016, he landed a recurring role on Orphan Black, he appeared in a total number of 7 episodes. Then the actor was cast in Patriot in which he appeared in 10 episodes. This could explain why he didn’t return or maybe the writers had no plan to bring back Original Death.
