Originals marked the beginning of a new chapter in the TVD Saga. Even though it is a spin-off, it didn’t feel strange to the fans because it consisted of numerous familiar faces from TVD. Originals centered around the characters of the Mikaelsons, the Original Vampires who served as the antagonists in TVD Seasons 2 & 3, but their popularity and reactions from fans made them anti-heroes. So it is no surprise that Julie Plec launched the first CW Network spin-off titled ‘The Originals’. Along with the same TVD actors reprising their roles on the Originals. 5. NATHANIEL BUZOLIC AUDITIONED FOR STEFAN
Nathaniel Buzolic made his Vampire Diaries debut in the third season playing Kol Mikaelson, the outcast of the family. Kol always felt that he has been betrayed and forsaken by his family. This would result in him engaging in destructive behaviors to elicit attention from his siblings. Even though Daniel Sherman portrayed Kol’s character in Originals Season 2, Nathaniel Buzolic would return to reprise the role in third season. It’s no surprise that Nathaniel brought a certain swag and charisma to the character of Kol. But did you know that Nathaniel auditioned for the character of Stefan Salvatore. He could have gotten the role, but fate had different plans. He would lose the role to Paul Wesley who is simply perfect for the role. We have seen the dynamic between Kol & Damon, they have shared a couple of scenes so it would have been definitely interesting to see if he had portrayed Stefan.
4. CLAIRE HOLT AUDITIONED FOR A DIFFERENT SHOW
Claire Holt is one of the few actors who have appeared in all three shows; Vampire Diaries, Originals, and Legacies. She portrayed Rebekah Mikaelson. Claire Holt attracted the attention of Kevin Williamson when the actress auditioned for another show called ‘The Secret Circle’. Interestingly, Claire Holt wasn’t the only candidate in the race for Rebekah Mikaelson. Camilla Luddington who is best known for playing Jo Wilson Grey’s Anatomy also was in the race for the role. Camilla revealed on her Twitter that she auditioned for the character of Rebekah. Had she gotten the role then she wouldn’t be playing Jo in Grey’s Anatomy.
