4. KILLING EACH OTHER’S BFF
Both the brothers are responsible for killing each other’s BFF. Stefan’s best friend Lexi Branson who has helped him in controlling his bloodlust and also helped him in restoring his humanity numerous times, arrived in Mystic Falls to celebrate Stefan’s birthday. But Damon Salvatore who was preying on the innocents compelled a girl to say that the attacker is Lexi. She is surrounded by the cops, but she manages to toss them aside, but she is staked by Damon who ‘did it’ to get the trail off him. Enzo, who became Damon’s friend when they were in the captivity of the Augustines. In Season 8, Stefan who had turned off his humanity to do the bidding of Cade. He ruthlessly killed Enzo by extracting out his heart. However, Bonnie injected him with the Cure and restored his humanity.
3. ROMANTIC INTERESTS
While both Stefan and Damon Salvatore have completely different personalities, different tastes and interests. But they have a big similarity when it comes to the women. Both the Salvatores have slept with the same four women. They were in a relationship with Katherine in 1864. Then were involved in a relationship with Elena Gilbert. While Stefan dated Rebekah in 1922 whereas Damon had one night stands with her. While Damon compelled Caroline and took advantage of her, Stefan had a genuine friendship with her, he ended up marrying her.
2. THEY HAVE DIED FOR EACH OTHER
Even though they have been each other’s sworn enemies at times, have done numerous things to hurt each other, but when the time came, they sacrificed their life to save the other. In Season 5, Damon sacrificed himself by dying in the explosion to take down the Travelers. He did it to save and bring back Stefan who was in the Other Side which was destroyed in the Season 5 finale. Stefan has also sacrificed himself a few times for the sake of saving Damon.
In Season 2 finale, became Ripper again in exchange for a cure from Klaus in order to save the dying Damon from a werewolf bite. Also in the TVD final episode, Mystic Falls was at the risk of being destroyed. Damon Salvatore decided to save everyone by taking down Katherine in the hellfire and killing himself in the process. But Stefan who observed this selfless and changed Damon, injected him with the cure, and died by taking down Katherine in the hellfire.
1. THE THIRD BROTHER
While majority of the fans are aware of only two Salvatore brothers, Damon and Stefan Salvatore. But did you know that there was another unnamed Salvatore brother. In 1912, it was revealed that Giuseppe Salvatore had an illicit affair with their maid and it resulted in the birth of the unnamed Salvatore. Stefan’s nephew Zach Salvatore and Zachariah Salvatore both were the descendants of this unnamed Salvatore. As Damon and Stefan turned into vampires and as a result couldn’t reproduce, the Salvatore bloodline was carried by the unnamed son.
