While the debate of Stelena and Delena will never end. Various TVD cast members such as Joseph Morgan (Klaus), Ian Somerhalder (Damon) voices their support for the Stelena ship. But there are numerous cast members who have vocally supported Delena. The list includes Daniel Gillies (Elijah), Chris Wood (Kai), Kayla Ewell (Vicki), Matt Davis (Alaric), Leslie-Ann (Rayna).
3. KILLING ELENA’S FAMILY MEMBERS
While Damon and Elena’s relationship is nothing short of epic, but there are numerous things that prove their relationship is totally not normal. Damon Salvatore is responsible for killing the biological parents of Elena, luckily they came back. Damon fed Isobel Flemming her blood and then killed her. He has also killed John Gilbert, but he was resurrected since he was wearing the Gilbert ring. In Season 2, after being rejected by Elena, Damon in a state of rage kills Jeremy Gilbert by snapping his neck in front of Elena. Since Jeremy was wearing the Gilbert ring, he came back to life. Another interesting fact is that Damon has slept with two members of the Petrova family, he first slept with Katherine Pierce who is a distant ancestor of Elena and then with Isobel, the biological mother of Elena.

2. WORST THINGS DAMON DID TO ELENA
Damon has done numerous bad things to Elena. On two occasions, he tried turning Elena into a vampire against her wish. When Elena’s car crashed, she asked Stefan to save her friend Matt first. So when she became a vampire, Damon took it out on Matt by deciding to kill him as according to him, it should have been Matt to be the one to die in the accident. In Season 1, Episode 3, Damon tries compelling Elena to kiss her while knowing that she is in a committed relationship with Stefan. Luckily, Elena had taken vervain so the compulsion didn’t work.
1. THEY WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO END UP TOGETHER
Delena was never supposed to be the endgame. Julie Plec revealed that the TVD writers had to work hard to keep Elena and Damon separate from each other in Season 2 as the fans were badly pushing for Delena. The different storylines such as Originals Characters, Tyler’s Werewolf transformation, Caroline’s vampirism, all acted as distractions. Julie Plec believed that a human Elena would never fall for Damon because it is completely opposite to her character. Stefan and Elena were always supposed to find each other due to their Doppelganger history. But the fans movement and the chemistry of the actors made Delena a reality.
Also, if Nina Dobrev had not left the show, there was a possibility of Stefan-Elena finding each other in the final season, but Nina’s Dobrev’s departure forced the writers to stick to Delena. And the original ending of the show involved both the brothers dying for Elena and watching over her from the afterlife. Elena would live her life happily with Matt or some human character, thankful to her life changing experiences with the Salvatores.
