Welcome back to Humor Nation. As the name suggests, the show is filled with numerous supernatural species, beings, and creatures. Werewolves are supernatural beings with the ability to transform into a form that is half-wolf and half-human—a combination of human and wolf who consume humans. One can become a werewolf after being bitten by another werewolf. The bite transmits lycanthropy. In their lycan form, they have sharp claws and big eyes, with animalistic appearances. In the earlier seasons, we believed that there was no cure for a werewolf bite, but later we learned that the British Men of Letters discovered a cure that involves injecting the blood of a sire werewolf into the victim. However, this method only cures if the victim has not fed.
Another type of species that has appeared in Supernatural is the shapeshifters. They are beings who can take the shape of any human they want. In taking the appearances of people they like, they end up shedding their skin and other material. Some can transform in minutes, while others require more time.
Another type of being is the ghost, which is basically the soul of a human who is stuck and chooses not to move to the afterlife. Often, ghosts don’t realize that they are, in fact, ghosts, as they continue behaving like humans and repeating their life’s routine. But as explained in the show, the longer a ghost stays on the physical plane of Earth, the more vengeful they become as they slowly lose all traces of their humanity. Ghosts are usually tied to specific objects or places that restrict their movement. Their weaknesses include salt, which repels them. We have seen Sam and Dean shooting rock salt rounds to banish ghosts and drawing a salt circle to protect others.
Vampires are a species that has appeared in nearly every Supernatural-themed show. Vampires in the Supernatural universe appeared in the first season of the show and are a recurring species in the majority of the seasons. Dean Winchester alone wiped out a nest of vampires. Apart from Dean, Daniel Elkins and Gordon Walker are some of the other hunters who have specialized expertise when it comes to vampires. Vampires have razor-sharp, retractable teeth and possess extreme levels of speed and strength. Like vampires depicted in other media, they are also immortal, protected from all sorts of illnesses and aging, and can heal their wounds.
