We witnessed plenty of werewolves in the Vampire Diaries universe, belonging to different bloodline, some being more powerful than the others. Usually the werewolves stay in a pack or clan which consists of the members of the same bloodline, the pack is normally led by an Alpha who comes from a royal bloodline. There have been seven packs, seven bloodlines from which all werewolves came into existence. The werewolves from these seven packs have a unique venom strain. The Originals shed more light on the concepts of being a werewolf, their community, their rituals, pack hierarchy, and plenty of other stuff. The Crescent Wolf Pack consists of the Labonair and Kenner Families, both these are considered to be werewolf royalty. Another bloodline is the North East Atlantic Pack from which Ansel and Klaus come. The rest of the bloodlines are Paxon, Barry, Poldark, Deep Water, and Malraux.
In Season 3 of the Originals, Lucien Castle engineers an upgraded Original serum which uses the werewolf venom from the seven bloodlines as a key ingredient. This made him more powerful than the Originals and his bite was fatal enough to kill an Original. There have been numerous packs which were introduced to us throughout both the shows. A pack is run by a set of rigid rules that all members must abide by, any misconduct could result in a severe punishment. An Alpha is the leader of a werewolf pack and there can be only one Alpha in a pack. Also, an alpha can be challenged for their position by another wolf who wants to be a leader and doesn’t believe in following the alpha.
