After almost getting destroyed in a fraud scandal, he made his return to Riverdale with the intention of launching several business ventures. He might appear to be a businessman on the outside, but he is a mobster.

Hiram was born as Jamie Luna to Javier Luna who was a shoe shiner in the New York City. His father decided to move to Riverdale with the purpose of finding Palladium in the unmined veins of the town of Riverdale. He started working with his father outside the Pop’s. He decided to work for a local gangster named Vito for money and respect. With the money he earned, he bought new fancy clothes and shoes. Jamie became confident which resulted in Hermione agreeing to go out with him.

Jamie changes his name to Hiram Lodge and is confronted by his father who warns him of the path that he is on. His father goes to the gangster Vito and threatens him to let Hiram go or he’ll go to police. Vito had Javier killed and tells Hiram to come back to the job. Hiram figures out that it was Vito behind the killing of his father, he ends up killing Vito’s men. Vito runs away and Hiram becomes the new boss of Riverdale.

In Season 2, he used Archie Andrews to do his bidding, he manipulated him in all sorts of ways and misused his trust. He almost strained Archie’s relationship with Fred. In Season 3, he framed Archie in the killing of Cassidy Bullock just to keep her away from Veronica. However, when Archie saves his life from an assassination attempt, he forms a truce with Archie.

However, it wouldn’t last long as he would try getting Archie killed several times. Archie and Hiram would be involved in a boxing match in which Hiram disregards the rules and tries killing Archie with bare hands. He lands several big hits to Archie’s head, face, and body. He even shoved the referee aside and continues attacking Archie until Veronica intervenes. The Riverdale version of Hiram Lodge is far more cold, villainous, and dark compared to the comics one because he always had morals in comics while trying to get rid of Archie’s relationship with Veronica.
