5. ELENA SHOULD HAVE CHOSEN STEFAN
Okay, this has been the main cause of the clash between Stelena and Delena. The fans of both the ships have reasonable and strong points to support their argument as to why Elena should have ended with either Stefan or Damon. Even though Nina Dobrev’s abrupt departure forced the creative to change the plans, it eventually resulted in Elena reuniting with Damon in the Season 8 finale. However, there were plans to make the love triangle between the Salvatores and Elena relevant again, had Nina not departed. Even though Elena & Damon feels just right, but numerous fans wish that it should have been Stefan. He deserved Elena and they both were meant to be together due to their doppelganger destiny.
4. KLAUS & CAROLINE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE ENDGAME
Perhaps the second most popular romantic ship in the TVD Universe is Klaroline. This is a very unexpected and surprising pair. Klaus Mikaelson who walked into Mystic Falls with the intention of wrecking havoc and he eventually did. He had caused great deal of harm to nearly every character, but there was one exception; Caroline. The Original Hybrid developed a soft corner for the Miss Mystic Falls, he went out of his way to cure her, present her a gift on her birthday. Klaus would even get a special dress for Caroline, invited her to the Mikaelson Ball, and showed his sensitive side to her.
Caroline would deny the connection, however the intense chemistry and tension would get the best of her. In Season 5 Episode 11, she admitted her love and connection to Klaus which led to a beautiful moment. However, their story would be cut short as Klaus would move to New Orleans starting a new chapter in his life while Caroline survives and thrives in Mystic Falls. Surely, these two would share a few encounters, but their story was never meant to be. Had Stefan was not written as a romantic interest for Caroline, there was a chance to reunite these two.
