Klaus is the first hybrid in the TVD Universe. The werewolf genes came from Ansel and his mother magically tuned him into an Original Vampire. The only times he has been neutralized is when Elijah used the White Oak Ash Dagger on him which was prepared by Kol.

Klaus is perhaps the most intelligent of all his siblings, he’s excellent at art of warfare and devising strategies to take his enemies down. His aunt Dahlia believed he is intelligent because he has no brute Viking blood in him. Klaus wasn’t always that ruthless. His cruelty came within only a hundred years of him being a vampire. it can be believed that when he sired Lucien, he along with Lucien started feeding and killing humans which could be the beginning of his ruthlessness and cruelty.
4. SIMILARITIES WITH KAI PARKER
Klaus shares some similarities with Kai Parker. They were the black sheep in their respective families. Being different from all their other siblings. As in Klaus’ case, he was born a hybrid whereas Kai was born was born as a witch without any magic, but possessed the ability to absorb magic. Both him and Kai have hurt their siblings. While Klaus never killed them, only neutralized and daggered. Kai killed them and absorbed their magic. Klaus genuinely cares about his family whereas Kai doesn’t. 5. HUNTER’S CURSE
Klaus is the first to suffer from the Hunter’s curse when he killed all the original members of the five who tried neutralizing his family. He has also suffered the most due to the curse.
