4. SALVATORES HAD SAME TASTE IN WOMEN
Well, when you are brothers, it’s natural that you are bound to have some similarities, same taste or interest. They could have same choices when it comes to clothes or cars, but in the case of Salvatores, their choices in women were pretty identical. Both of them have been involved in relationship or a sort of fling with Caroline Fobes, Katherine Pierce, Elena Gilbert, and Rebekah Mikaelson.
As over the course of eight seasons we have seen Damon and Stefan Salvatore dating Elena at some point. They were Katherine’s lovers in 1864. While Stefan had a relationship with Rebekah in 1922 before Klaus wiped his memory whereas Rebekah and Damon slept together on two different occasions. In the first season, Damon had Caroline compelled and used her, whereas in later seasons Stefan and Caroline dated and got married.
3. BROTHERS AND PETROVA
Whether it be Salvatores or the Mikaelsons, it’s a known fact that both of the brother pairs have fallen in love with a Petrova or have been involved with Petrova Doppelganger throughout their lives. While Klaus and Elijah were genuinely in love with the doppelganger Tatia, but ultimately Elijah had her who accidentally ended up killing her. Whereas Klaus wanted to sacrifice Katherine and Elena for the Hybrid ritual whereas Elijah was in love with Katherine and tried saving her. When it comes to the Salvatores, both were genuinely in love with Katherine and Elena. While Elena chose Damon over Stefan and Katherine chose Stefan over Damon. Interesting, it was Stefan who ended up killing the Petrova Katherine.
2. A BROTHER WHO DIED FOR THE OTHER
Despite their lifelong issues and conflicts, both the brother pairs came through when it mattered the most. They have made plenty of sacrifices for the other brother. But the ultimate sacrifice would be ending one’s life for the other. In the TVD Finale episode, Stefan stopped Damon from sacrificing himself because he wanted the changed Damon to live out his life happily with Elena. Stefan Salvatore saved Mystic Falls by killing Katherine in the hellfire and dying in the process. Whereas the Originals ending saw Klaus deciding to end his existence to save Hope and his family from the Hollow. But Elijah wishes to die by his side because the one true purpose of his life would be the redemption of Klaus which he finally saw happening. He couldn’t live a life without Klaus.
1. HURTING EACH OTHER BADLY
Every family has issues, but with Salvatores and Mikaelsons, the conflict often takes a violent form. Both Klaus and Damon has hurt their respective brother in the worst way possible. Damon Salvatore who promised Stefan an eternity of misery has killed Stefan’s BFF Lexi Branson in the name of self protection. Whereas Klaus who was enraged at Elijah for betraying him by letting Hayley escape and for daggering him, he punished Elijah by compelling Gia to walk into the sunlight with her daylight ring off right in front of Elijah.
